8.00pm WI Hall - Cookham Dean

“APRIL SHOWERS”.

“Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote

the droghte of March hath perced to the roote”

and if you don’t know what our great 14th century poet, Thomas Chaucer, was on about, you’ll just have to come to Cookham Dean on Tuesday 28th April [7.30pm at the W.I. Hall, just down from the church] to find out!

We plan a celebration of Spring in Poetry – YOUR poetry, other people’s poetry, which you are invited to read [or have read for you]. On the subject of SPRING!

Appropriately [?] the evening will be directed by local poet Mike SPRINGate. Three tranches of poetry [10 poems/ 45 minutes], each one introduced by a local Cookham poet reading one of their own works: then it’s YOUR reading, selected by ballot. Very informal, lots of fun [as those who enjoyed last February’s ’Ladies Love’ will recall].

7.45. 10 poems introduced by Gail Dorrington.

8.30. Supper – main course.

The evening will end at about 10.30 pm with a raffle to kick off St. JB’s vestry fund – the church needs more space for the ‘Sunbeams’ on Sunday and its popular lunches for the elderly, so dig deep!
